Lifeguarding
Prerequisites (Per American Red Cross):
- Student must be at least 15 years of age by the last day of the course.
- Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing using front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both, but swimming on the back is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
- Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Hands should be placed under the armpits.
- Complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed. Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface in order to breathe. The distance cannot be swam under water. Exit the water without a ladder.

With a current certification, student may enroll in this course. It follows a quicker pace of the standard course allowing for review of the course material. Student must bring CPR mask or purchase one for $10.
Lifeguarding Challenge $125
Student performs all skills successfully and passes written tests without review.
First Aid/CPR/AED
Many variations of first aid, CPR, and AED, as well as some add-on courses are available. Please ask about specific courses if they are not listed.
Course Rates
CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider $130
This includes AED training. Fee $20 for first aid training. This course is part of the Lifeguarding course.
Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR $125
Add $50 for only 1 person in class.
For families, friends, and employment services focused around people, such as childcare and gym.
Water Safety
Course Rates
Water Safety Instructor (WSI) $350
Teach swim lessons and water safety courses and classes.
Basic Water Rescue $60
A 4.5-hour course providing families and friends with knowledge, skills, and information to perform basic water rescues and provide a safe environment for activities in, on, and around the water. A small portion is in-water activity. This is a 3-year certification.
Basic Water Safety $25
A general class providing basic information to be safe in, on, and around the water. This is a good class for children ages 6 to 14 years of age.
Water Safety Today $50
Add $25 for only 1 person in class.
This 2-hour course provides you with all the information you need to keep you and your family safe in, on, and around the water. You will learn how to prevent, recognize, and respond to emergencies in, on, and around the water as well as learn some basic water rescues and how to stay safe while performing them. Basic rescue skills are practiced on land. This course certification has no expiration date.
Swim Lessons
We are not offering swim lessons at this time.
All of these swim lessons are available for private and community pools decided upon by the swim student’s parents/guardians and the instructor. All of the following rates are base prices and various components may reflect a change different from what is listed.

Parent and Child Aquatics (Ages 6 months – 3 years)
8 30-minute lessons. One child and at least one parent are required. The purpose of Parent and Child Aquatics is to teach safe behaviors in, on, and around the water and to develop swimming readiness. Parents and children engage in water exploration activities with the objective of having fun and becoming comfortable in, on, and around the water. I incorporate water safety tips, lots of demonstration, and songs into the learning process. 2 levels available. See following options.

Grow with Me Aquatics (Ages 4 – 8 years)
This is not a Red Cross course but based on Red Cross skills. 8 30-minute lessons. One child and at least one parent are required. The purpose of Grow with Me Aquatics is to learn safe behaviors/establish safety rules in, on, and around the water, perform basic swim skills, build your relationship/bond, and have fun and progress in a safe learning environment. Parents and children engage in water exploration activities with the objective of having fun and becoming comfortable in, on, and around the water. I incorporate water safety tips, lots of demonstration, songs, and games into the learning process. See following options.

Preschool Aquatics (Ages 3 – 5)
3 levels available for children. 8 lessons. These classes start by introducing the fearful child to the water and continue through primary skills and stroke development. Preschool Aquatics aims to promote the developmentally appropriate learning of fundamental water safety and aquatic skills by young children. Red Cross Preschool Aquatics teaches aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression through 3 levels of courses. See following options.

Learn-to-Swim (Ages 6 – 14)
6 levels available. 8 lessons. This series begins with a class for children who have no experience in the water and ends with one that focuses on proper form and increased endurance. Learn-to-Swim consists of 6 comprehensive levels that provide people of varying ages and abilities with instruction on how to swim skillfully and safely. Each level includes training in basic water safety in addition to aquatic and safety skills learned in a logical progression. Our objective is to teach people to swim and be safe in, on, and around the water. See following options.
Adult Swim (Ages 15+)
3 levels available. 8 lessons. The Adult Swim courses are intended for teens and adults with differing levels of swimming ability. They are designed for teens with beginning and intermediate skills as this class helps swimmers achieve buoyancy and loss of support with comfort.

Stroke of Genius
This is not a Red Cross course. This is for adults looking to refine strokes and concentrate on specific needs, such as completing a triathlon or a unique personal goal.
